Moving Healthcare Forward, Backed by the Magic of AI

At 12-years-old, I purchased my first computer. I worked hard and saved up until I was able to buy myself an Apple IIe clone (yes, I’m that old). With my new device in hand, I spent hours teaching myself how to code. I still remember the first program I built that actually worked—a little app to store and search recipes. That moment felt like magic. Here I was, simply directing the computer using queries, and suddenly those prompts turned into a tool that could actually be utilized by others (although I was probably the only person who actually ever used it).

Since that digital recipe library, I’ve been building software and products used by millions of people around the world. And honestly, the fundamentals hadn’t changed all that much from my teenage years as an amateur programmer—until AI came along and disrupted technology.

Fast forward to November 30th, 2022. The second time I felt that same sense of magic—the day OpenAI released ChatGPT-3.5. I tried it immediately, of course, and it was instantaneously obvious to me: this was different. This was big. It felt like we suddenly had superpowers—helping with daily tasks, accelerating how we build products, and reshaping entire industries.

Including healthcare.

My colleagues and I quickly asked ourselves, how can we harness this unlocked superpower in everything we do? How can AI help us improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, and elevate the patient experience—while still holding ourselves to the highest standards of privacy and security?

At Dimer Health, we have been focused on uncovering the myriad ways we can move the healthcare industry forward by being backed by AI. Here are some examples of what this looks like for our admins and clinical providers:

  • Personalized Patient Recovery Plans. We generate customized care plans based on a patient’s medical history, social determinants of health, and encounter data. Physicians review and approve these plans, which are then delivered to patients in a clear, simple format—no more confusing discharge packets. Instead, they get a smart, user-friendly guide that supports them throughout their recovery.

  • Real-Time Patient Insights. We deployed ambient AI agents, working in the background, analyzing patient communication in real time to flag risks and generate actionable insights for providers. We are directly integrated with EHRs and clinician workflows, offering real-time, evidence-based insights precisely when they're most needed. This helps us intervene earlier, catch complications, improve outcomes, and scale our operations as we grow.

  • Administrative Relief for Clinicians. A recent article published by Forbes highlights how Dimer Health is leading the way in relieving clinician burnout. We have put AI to work automating repetitive, data-heavy tasks and streamlining administrative work, allowing clinicians to focus on patient-centered care.

The magic of AI still has its limits

With all of the efficiencies and insights we are tapping into with the use of AI, let’s be clear - the magic of AI still requires adult supervision. Every AI-generated recommendation we make is tested, reviewed, and approved by our clinical team—before it ever reaches a patient.

Dimer Health is human-driven and backed by AI.

So, what’s next for healthcare with AI at the table?

We’re still at the beginning. Models will continue to improve. Costs will drop. And the impact will only grow. AI will handle more patient interactions, generate real-time recommendations, support clinicians, and automate much of the back-end work. Compassionate care will always come from humans—but AI will make care more efficient and more accessible.

These are exciting times! And we’re building for that future—every day.

Stay tuned.
